About This Product
Current enters through the metal pillar, flows down the spoke of the disc that is touching the mercury, and leaves through the trough. Because that spoke sits in the field of the horseshoe magnet, it is pushed sideways and the wheel turns, an early form of electric motor. The disc can be adjusted vertically on its metal pillar so that its points dip into the mercury. The Barlows Wheel Apparatus can be packed for export to Honduras, Peru, Vanuatu, Zambia and Morocco.
Frequently Asked Questions
What supply does the Barlow's wheel need?
It operates on 4 volts, at which it takes 1.8 amps. The apparatus is supplied without a battery.
How is the electrical contact made to the rotating disc?
